Summer is in full swing in Fernie and with temperatures on the rise, here are three great ways to beat the heat:

  1. Raft the Elk River – Book a full-day whitewater trip on the Lower Elk River Canyon with Mountain High Adventures or Canyon Raft Company. For those looking for something milder, scenic floats on the Upper Elk River also provide plenty of opportunities for jumping in the river and water fights.
  2. Hike or Bike in the Shade. A number of hiking and mountain biking trails which start at Mount Fernie Provincial Park are cool and shady due to the canopy of the Cedar Valley’s old growth forest. Don’t forget to cool off in Lizard creek at the end of your adventure!
  3. Fernie Aquatic Centre located in downtown Fernie just a short walk from the hotel and features a free outdoor water park which is a huge hit with the little ones!

Don’t forget that after your day of Fernie adventures, you can always cool off by enjoying a cold refreshing beer purchased from our Spirits Cold Beer & Wine Shop or on the Pub Bar & Grill patio!
