Looking for a family-friendly hike that gets you up into the alpine for spectacular mountain views? Be sure to check out the Lost Boys Pass loop, which is quickly becoming one of our favourite Fernie summer hikes!

Located at the top of Timber Chair, the Lost Boys Pass hiking loop is a fantastic high alpine hiking option when visiting Fernie Alpine Resort. To access this trail, visitors can board the Timber Chair for an exciting ride to the top of the lift where Lost Boys café and the trailhead starts. The Lost Boys Loop starts out with a 0.75 km walk from the top of the Timber Chair to the west with vertical gain of 80m. Once you reach the Lost Boys Lookout, plan to take a break on the viewing platform and enjoy the spectacular views out to the Sand Creek drainage and beyond to Lake Koocanusa. From the lookout, the trail then descends through the alpine to the Mammoth Droppings, an interesting area of giant boulders below the Mammoth Peak. The Loop is 1.7 km with a vertical climb of about 100m and takes about 1 1/2 hrs to complete. The trail is an easy walk and suitable for children.

Once you finish the loop be sure to stop by the Lost Boys café for a tasty lunch or refreshing beverage before the exhilarating ride back down the Timber Chair!

The Timber Chair operates on Saturdays, Sundays & statutory holidays from 10:30am – 4:30pm from June 23 to September 3 for the 2018 summer season.
